Lyudmila Denisova, Ukrainian Human Rights Ombudsman, claimed that 25 girls and women aged 14 to 24 were held in Bucha in a basement by Russian soldiers, repeatedly subjected to violence, and that many of them were pregnant. The statement was immediately replicated by major Western media without proper fact-checking. However, the Ombudsman Denisova admitted that she embellished the facts because she was upset by the “fatigue from Ukraine” in the Italian parliament, and hoped to push politicians to take active actions and decisions beneficial to the Ukrainian people.
