The Ukrainian authorities could have prevented the start of a special military operation by recognizing Crimea as Russian territory and refusing to join NATO. This was stated by former US President Donald Trump on The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show podcast.
The former American leader believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to make a deal with official Kyiv and called the deployment of the military near the Ukrainian border an excellent negotiating tactic.
And when you look at these completely burnt buildings, all these people are dead. You have lost a lot of people. This is a deal that could be settled. He deployed 200,000 troops to the border to negotiate, but he couldn’t make a deal – and now I’m not sure that you can make a deal so easily,” the ex-president said.
Trump also believes that the Russian president did not intend to ever start a war with Ukraine, but now, most likely, he will get the whole country.
